Mary Anne Franks, Professor of Law at the University of Miami presents:

"How to Defeat Revenge Porn"

Public Lecture, March 14, 2016, Cone 210, from 2:00-3:30

Abstract: So-called "revenge porn" sites are proliferating across the Internet.  Angry ex-boyfriends, spouses and lovers post nude photos and videos of their exes on these sites, with a goal of both shaming and destroying the reputation of the women depicted in what Franks calls "non-consensual pornography."  Professor Franks, whose presentation will conclude the Center's series on the harassment of women online, has been actively involved in getting over two dozen states to criminalize websites that traffic in non-consensual pornography.  At the same time, law alone cannot defeat revenge porn, and Franks will also discuss her educational work and her work with companies like Google, Twitter, and Facebook.
