NEXT BRN MEETING IS SEPTEMBER 3rd, 2009
The Bioethics Resource Network (BRN) is a collaboration of individuals who have professional and personal interests in bioethics. The group serves community professionals, academics, and scientists by providing them with a forum to discuss and explore bioethical issues. In addition, the network provides opportunities for its members to share their viewpoints on ethical issues with each other. Finally, the Bioethics Resource Network enables its members to work collaboratively on forums, workshops, conferences, research, etc.
Topics of discussion emerge and evolve continually, especially in biotechnology. Topics of current interest include but are not limited to: genetic diagnosis, counseling and therapy, genetic enhancement, cloning, extending life span, genetically-modified food and animals, designer drugs, machine-body interfacing (“bionic” men and women), tissue and organ engineering, patenting, and confidentiality.
The Bioethics Resource Network aims to increase awareness of ethical issues in biotechnology. It provides opportunities for people in the professional, academic, and scientific fields of sciences to meet and network in order to facilitate communication and collaboration in their respective fields.
